Desde DOCMAFórum estamos muy contentos de poderos anunciar que, para nuestra próxima sesión, tenemos la suerte de contar con Amanda Huntley, quien nos hablara sobre el archivo fílmico. ‘Understanding film archives and how to make best use of them’ (Comprendiendo los archivos fílmicos y cómo utilizarlos mejor), una charla a cargo de Amanda Huntley.
La cita será el lunes 17 de junio, en formato online, de 19:00h a 20:30h.
En base a sus más de 40 años de experiencia al frente de Archivos Huntley, Amanda Huntley nos presentará el panorama actual del archivo fílmico y nos ofrecerá algunos consejos prácticos para su utilización. También nos hablará del archivo en las representaciones socio–históricas, el interés de las películas familiares y amateurs, y las consecuencias de la irrupción de la inteligencia artificial.
Estos son algunos puntos a tratar:
- Cómo funciona un archivo fílmico y cómo sacarle el mejor provecho.
- Los diferentes tipos de archivos fílmicos y la importancia de comunicar una época o un tema
- Cómo encontrar el mejor material: pistas para hacer una mejor búsqueda. Catalogación
- Derechos y licencias, tarifas y cómo utilizar los archivos de la manera más económica.
- Las ventajas de colaborar con un archivista experto para encontrar el mejor material.
- Uso de material de archivo fílmico en documentales y otras narrativas.
- El futuro de los archivos cinematográficos y sus implicaciones para los documentalistas.
- El potencial impacto de la inteligencia artificial.
Al finalizar la charla habrá un tiempo de preguntas y respuestas para que todxs podamos compartir las experiencias con el uso de los archivos fílmicos.

‘Understanding film archives and how to make the best use of them’ / Talk by Amanda Huntley
Based on her more than 40 years of experience leading Huntley Archives, Amanda Huntley will present the current landscape of film archives and offer some practical tips for their use. She will also discuss the role of archives in socio-historical representations, the value of home movies and amateur films, and the implications of the advent of artificial intelligence.
Here are some of the points to be covered:
- How a film archive works and how to make the best use of it.
- The different types of film archives and the importance of conveying an era or a theme.
- How to find the best material: tips for better searching. Cataloging.
- Rights and licenses, fees, and how to use archives in the most economical way.
- The advantages of collaborating with an expert archivist to find the best material.
- Using film archive material in documentaries and other narratives.
- The future of film archives and their implications for documentarians.
- The potential impact of artificial intelligence.
At the end of the talk, there will be a Q&A session so we can all share our archive experience.
